Doug from M.S. Walker will be here Friday sampling us on some perfect wines for summer. Stop by and try this refreshing lineup!

La Palma Aragosta Vermentino: This wine is wonderful with all light dishes and seafood, it is simply one of our favorite whites in the store. It is a co-op wine from Sardinia, where seafood is a large part of the cuisine, and this wine pairs perfectly with all of your summery dishes. The wine has an appley and floral nose with a crisp and balanced flavor with an almondy finish.

Valravn Chardonnay: We really love this chardonnay, it has all of the hallmarks of a classic California chard, but is very balanced, almost like a French chardonnay. It has oak, but also a bright and fresh acidity to bring harmonious balance. There is an overall sense of freshness and tension with a luscious fruit core. Fresh Meyer lemon custard, white flower, lemon verbena, and stony notes evolve along with some beeswax and marzipan accents. The wine is rich and persistent, while remaining taut with salinity. The grapes come from Sonoma Coast, Russian River, and Petaluma Gap AVA’s, while three different clones are used for ultimate balance.

Scarpetta Timido Rosé Brut: This classic rosé brut sources old vine pinot nero (noir) grapes from the foothills of the Friulian Dolomites. It is a drier style than a spumante from nearby prosecco; I personally like that better. It has that pithy pinot nero thing that is just so wonderful in a dry dry wine. This is a wonderful pizza wine (bubbly and pizza, particularly rosé bubbly, is magical), and just a beaut of a summer porch wine or beverage to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Lindquist Syrah: Lastly, we can’t just not do a red, because we love our reds. It being barbecue season, we just can’t ignore an affordable and wonderful barbecue wine. This Cali Syrah bridges the gap between Aussie Shiraz and the wines of the Northern Rhone. It has some of that jam factor like a shiraz with the smoky, meaty notes of a French Syrah. This combined with the easy open screw cap make this wine a barbecue specialist.
